Rishabh Pant has achieved a remarkable feat by scoring a half-century in the second innings of the Leeds Test, marking his fifth consecutive score of 50 or more in England. This performance places him among a select group of visiting batsmen. His last five innings in England include scores of 50, 146, 57, 134, and 50 not out, highlighting his consistent performance on the tricky English pitches. This consistency has been crucial in India’s competitiveness during away Tests. Pant joins the ranks of Don Bradman, Hansie Cronje, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kumar Sangakkara, and Daryl Mitchell, who have also achieved this distinction. Only Steve Smith, with seven consecutive 50+ scores, is ahead of him. This places Pant among the elite and proves his status as one of the top-performing Indian batsmen in challenging overseas conditions. In the Headingley Test, Pant completed his half-century off 83 balls, contributing to India’s score surpassing 200. KL Rahul was also approaching his century. At lunchtime, India had scored 153 runs for 3 wickets. On the fourth day, Shubman Gill was dismissed for 8 runs. India aims to set a target of over 350 runs. England’s first innings was 465 runs. Bumrah took 5 wickets. India had a first innings lead of 6 runs after scoring 471 in the first innings.
