New Delhi is set to pulse with energy this Sunday as over 30,000 runners from across the globe converge for the much-anticipated New Delhi Marathon. Boxing legend Vijender Singh and tennis ace Rohan Bopanna will flag off the event, igniting the start of what promises to be a historic race.
Participants hail from 31 countries, 490 cities, and 32 Indian states and union territories, transforming the marathon into a true international spectacle. Runners will compete in four categories: full marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K, all kicking off from the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Elite Indian athletes like Anish Thapa, Man Singh, Gopi T, and others including Beliyappa, Dr. Kartik, Akshay Saini, Bhagirathi Bisht, Nirmaben Thakor Bharatji, Ashwini Madan Jadhav, Disket Dolma, and Stanzin Dolkar are ready to showcase their prowess. This event doubles as a qualifying race for the upcoming Asian Games, adding extra stakes.
In a remarkable display of inclusivity, 20 visually impaired athletes will also take part, highlighting the marathon’s commitment to accessibility. The race has already raised Rs 10 lakh, which will be donated to the Athletics Federation of India to support junior athletes with better facilities.
