Real Madrid solidified its position in the La Liga title race with a convincing 2-0 victory over Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu. The win brings Los Blancos just one point behind leaders FC Barcelona, intensifying the competition at the top.

Valencia started strongly in the first half, pressing high and creating chances, but Real Madrid flipped the script after the break. In the 65th minute, left-back Alvaro Carreras showcased brilliant individual skill, dribbling past two defenders to slot home the opener. The game was sealed in injury time by Kylian Mbappe, who coolly finished to secure the three points.

This result spells trouble for Valencia, who are now perilously close to the relegation zone following their recent Copa del Rey exit. Their defensive frailties were exposed against Madrid’s relentless attack.

In other La Liga action, Real Betis exacted revenge on Atletico Madrid with a 1-0 win at the Metropolitano Stadium. Anthony’s 29th-minute strike proved decisive, as Betis held firm despite Atletico’s pressure. A late equalizer was ruled out for offside, handing Betis a morale-boosting triumph after a heavy Copa del Rey defeat.

Athletic Club roared back to form with a 4-2 thriller against Levante. Gorka Guruzeta’s first-half brace set the tone, and despite Levante playing with 10 men, the match stayed tense until Robert Navarro’s extra-time goal clinched it.

Sevilla salvaged a 1-1 draw at home to Girona thanks to Caio Silva’s late equalizer and a stunning penalty save by keeper Odysseas Vlachodimos in stoppage time. Getafe also ended a nine-game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Alaves.

These results have ramped up the drama in both the title chase and the relegation battle, setting the stage for an exhilarating run-in.
