Rajat Patidar, leading Madhya Pradesh, has etched his name in the record books with a magnificent maiden First-Class double century in the Ranji Trophy opener against Punjab. On Day 3 in Indore, Patidar remained undefeated on 205 runs, compiled off 332 balls, including 26 boundaries. His monumental effort propelled Madhya Pradesh to a massive 519/8, granting them a commanding 287-run advantage.

The captain’s innings was a testament to his skill, showcasing a fine blend of defensive solidity and attacking flair. This achievement marks a significant personal milestone for Patidar, a player known for his consistent rise in the domestic circuit. His leadership has also been impactful, having previously guided Central Zone to a Duleep Trophy win and Royal Challengers Bangalore to their maiden IPL crown.

Following his stellar performances, including a notable Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy run, Patidar is being considered for a potential call-up to the Indian Test team for the forthcoming South Africa series. His temperament and aggressive batting style are seen as assets for the national side.

Madhya Pradesh’s dominant position in their opening match is a direct result of Patidar’s exceptional batting display. This performance is crucial for their Ranji Trophy campaign and highlights the high caliber of talent in Indian domestic cricket. Patidar’s current form and leadership suggest a bright future, potentially including a place in the national squad.
