Under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma, with Rahul Dravid as coach, India secured the ICC T20I World Cup 2024. Former India head coach Rahul Dravid made a significant revelation about Rohit Sharma, stating that India greatly needed a captain like him after Virat Kohli stepped down.

    During a discussion on Ravichandran Ashwin’s ‘Kutti Stories,’ Rahul Dravid stated that Rohit Sharma prioritizes his team’s needs. From the start, Rohit knew how to run the team and what was crucial. Dravid emphasized that the captain’s role is pivotal in leading the team. He expressed satisfaction working with Rohit and mentioned their ability to overcome challenges. Dravid noted Rohit’s calm demeanor and understanding of the team. He mentioned that India needed a captain like Rohit after Virat Kohli’s departure. Rohit showcased excellent leadership, securing numerous wins. Dravid expressed his happiness with Rohit’s performance.

    Rahul Dravid was the head coach of Team India from November 2021 to June 2024, with Rohit Sharma as the captain in all three formats. Together, they won 10 consecutive matches in the ODI World Cup 2023 and reached the final. Though India lost the final against Australia, they secured the T20I World Cup 2024, bringing an ICC trophy after 11 years. India won the T20I World Cup 2024 final against South Africa. Following the tournament, Rahul Dravid’s contract ended, and Rohit Sharma retired from the T20I format.
