Punjab is experiencing significant hardship due to devastating floods triggered by heavy rainfall. Numerous regions are submerged, rivers are overflowing, and daily life has been severely affected. With a red alert declared for a majority of its districts, the authorities are working tirelessly, alongside rescue teams, to control the situation and prevent further disasters. India’s Test captain, Shubman Gill, has publicly expressed his concern, using social media to share a message of support and solidarity. His message on X read: “Heartbroken to see my Punjab devastated by floods. Punjab will always be stronger than any adversity, and we’ll rise up from this. My prayers are with all affected families. Standing strong with my people.” Prime Minister Modi has also engaged with Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, to discuss the unfolding crisis and has pledged full assistance. The ongoing rains have put immense pressure on Punjab, leading to collaborative efforts between villagers, volunteers, and state agencies to safeguard the affected communities as water levels rise.
