Harare, January 19 – Pakistan’s Under-19 team kicked off their 2026 World Cup campaign with a commanding six-wicket victory over Scotland in Group C at Takashinga Sports Club on Monday. Putting Scotland in to bat after losing the toss, Pakistan’s bowlers dismantled the opposition for 187 all out in 48.1 overs.
Scotland’s innings crumbled early, slumping to 12-2. Rory Grant and Thomas Knight steadied the ship with a 47-run stand for the third wicket, but Grant fell for 21 off 45 balls. Knight anchored with 37 off 72 deliveries, including three fours, partnering briefly with Finley Carter (12) and Ollie Jones.
A crucial 58-run seventh-wicket partnership between Manu Sarawat (25) and Finley Jones (33) off 80 balls lifted Scotland from dire straits, but it wasn’t enough. Pakistan’s Ali Raza starred with 4-37, supported by Momin Qamar’s 3 wickets.
Chasing 188, Pakistan cruised home in 43.1 overs. Openers Ali Hasan Baloch (15) and Sameer Minhas (28) added 43 before both fell with the score at 48. Usman Khan and Ahmad Hussain then forged a match-winning 111-run third-wicket stand.
Usman smashed 75 off 85 balls, laced with five fours and two sixes, before departing, while Hussain remained not out on 47. Ollie Jones and Manu Sarawat claimed 2 wickets apiece for Scotland.
