After this, now the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will honor Bindra with this award in the award ceremony organized in Paris today. So far in the history of Olympics, 116 personalities have received the Gold Olympic Order.

The Olympic Order, established in 1975, is the highest award of the Olympic Movement, given for special contribution to the Olympic moment. Earlier this award was given in three categories – Gold, Silver and Bronze. But in 1984 it was decided that this award would be given in the Gold category to heads of states and personalities making special contributions.
