The aftermath of the recent India-Pakistan cricket match continues to generate headlines, with the ‘no-handshake’ controversy drawing significant attention. The Indian team’s decision not to shake hands with the Pakistani players prompted the PCB to escalate the issue to the ICC. The PCB also involved match referee Andy Pycroft. Former Indian cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin provided his opinion on the controversy on NDTV’s special Asia Cup program. He expressed a dissenting view, suggesting there was no problem with the handshake tradition. Azharuddin believes that when participating in a match, players should embrace the complete experience, including pre and post-match gestures. He was puzzled by the situation and indicated that he couldn’t comprehend the problem. He also asserted that if a team is protesting, it’s better not to play at all. The India vs. Pakistan match is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, at the Dubai International Stadium as part of the Super Four stage of the Asia Cup 2025.
