North Delhi Strikers won by 11 runs against West Delhi Lions in a thrilling encounter during the 19th match of the Delhi Premier League Season 2 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
West Delhi Lions began their chase of 166 with early setbacks. They lost two wickets to Vikas Dixit and captain Harshit Rana, which left them at 13/2. Wicketkeeper Krish Yadav attempted to stabilize the innings by scoring 23 runs from 23 deliveries, but the required rate consistently increased. Hrithik Shokeen was a key performer with 51 runs off 24 balls, including five fours and three sixes, and his efforts were supported by a 49-run partnership that helped to revive the chase. But the Strikers shifted the momentum when Deepanshu Gulia took three crucial wickets in the middle overs. Harshit Rana bowled a tight penultimate over to end the innings at 154/8, thus ensuring victory.
Earlier, North Delhi Strikers had scored 165/9 in their 20 overs. Sarthak Ranjan contributed with 42 runs off 33 balls, while Arjun Rapria brought energy to the innings with 40 runs off only 22 deliveries, which included three fours and three sixes. Yajas Sharma (23 off 15) and Yash Bhatia (22 off 17) also made contributions, but the Lions’ bowlers took consistent wickets, preventing a larger score.
Mayank Gusain of West Delhi Lions was the standout bowler, taking three wickets and giving away just 2 runs in his single over. Despite his impressive performance, the Lions could not secure a win.
