The Lucknow Super Giants have completed their squad for IPL 2026, securing six new players through strategic bidding in the mini-auction. The franchise’s recruitment drive focused on fortifying their spin attack, acquiring an explosive overseas wicketkeeper-batter, and adding significant depth to their pace bowling unit.

Despite releasing David Miller, LSG was unable to find a clear finisher at the auction. A substantial bid of INR 8.6 crore secured Josh Inglis, who faces availability issues for a considerable portion of the 2026 season. Additionally, INR 2.6 crore was spent on uncapped Mukul Choudhary, whose role in the starting eleven is yet to be determined.

Wanindu Hasaranga’s inclusion boosts the batting order and spin options, although the top order remains a potential area of concern. The signing of Anrich Nortje at his base price of INR 2 crore introduces a fearsome pace option, albeit one with a history of injuries, mirroring the concerns with existing Indian pacers.

LSG’s approach suggests a deliberate effort to build a more balanced and resilient team, with a keen eye on addressing specific team weaknesses identified from previous seasons. The retained core, including star Indian talents, will be crucial in integrating the new signings effectively.
