New Delhi buzzed with energy on Sunday as the Fit India Movement rolled out its popular ‘Sunday on Cycle’ event. Organized under the national fitness drive, the gathering saw participation from the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), marking their 75th foundation day celebrations. Prominent figures like former hockey star Rupinder Pal Singh, cyclists Tanvi and Sweety Malik, and choreographer Atul Jindal pedaled alongside hundreds of enthusiasts, sending a strong message on health and wellness.
Rupinder Pal Singh, speaking to the media, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative. ‘The Fit India Movement is a fantastic campaign urging every citizen to prioritize fitness,’ he said. He highlighted the upcoming Commonwealth Games in India after 20 years, calling it a golden opportunity for athletes. ‘Hosting the Games at home will inspire players like nothing else. I hope our performance surpasses past editions,’ he added, encouraging everyone to cycle or exercise regularly.
Cyclist Tanvi was thrilled by the turnout. ‘I’m proud of everyone here. The sun hadn’t even risen, yet crowds gathered eagerly for the ride,’ she shared. Atul Jindal emphasized the dual benefits of cycling. ‘Incorporating bikes into daily life protects our environment and boosts personal health,’ he noted.
Sweety Malik, a special guest, expressed delight at the early morning fitness fervor. Meanwhile, 65-year-old cyclist Sushil Antil urged youth to step away from screens and join such movements. ‘Young people must embrace fitness drives to stay healthy,’ she advised.
The event underscored India’s growing fitness culture, blending celebrity influence with grassroots participation. As the nation gears up for major sporting events, initiatives like these are paving the way for a healthier tomorrow.
