The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 has concluded with a glorious victory for India, spearheaded by the remarkable fast bowler Kranti Gaud. Her performance on the world stage not only brought home the trophy but also served to mend a deep family wound, restoring the honor of her father, Munna Singh Gaud. His career in the Madhya Pradesh police force was cut short in 2012 due to contentious reasons, leading to years of severe hardship for the family.

More than a decade later, Kranti’s success has dramatically altered their fortunes. During a recent felicitation ceremony in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav announced the reinstatement of Munna Singh Gaud, characterizing it as a “rightful restoration of dignity” for a family that has shown incredible resilience. The decision was hailed as a fitting tribute to Kranti’s hard-earned success.

“Kranti has earned immense pride for our nation. It is only just that her father’s honor is restored,” CM Yadav stated at the event, acknowledging the emotional significance of this moment for the Gaud family and the country. His words resonated with the sentiment of justice and recognition.

Kranti’s journey from extreme poverty to World Cup champion is a compelling saga of sacrifice and determination. Growing up in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, the family faced dire financial challenges after her father’s dismissal. Kranti vividly remembers the struggle, sharing, “There were days when we could afford only one meal a day.” This adversity fueled her ambition.

Her dedication to fast bowling propelled her through the domestic cricket circuit, leading to her selection for the national team shortly before the World Cup. Kranti’s story became a beacon of hope for many, showcasing the transformative power of perseverance in the face of significant personal challenges.

Kranti Gaud was a standout performer for India in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, proving to be the backbone of their bowling attack. Her blend of raw pace, precise control, and aggressive intent made her a formidable opponent throughout the tournament. She concluded the competition with nine wickets from eight matches. Her impressive 3/20 spell against Pakistan was a key performance, and she also delivered crucial wickets in the vital match against New Zealand. A pivotal moment in the semifinal against Australia was her early dismissal of star batter Alyssa Healy, which significantly influenced the game’s momentum and India’s eventual triumph.

Upon returning to Madhya Pradesh, Kranti Gaud was accorded a hero’s welcome. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, accompanied by Sports Minister Vishwas Sarang, honored Kranti, her parents, and her coach in a grand ceremony. The Chief Minister also announced a ₹1 crore cash prize and the development of a world-class cricket stadium in Chhatarpur to nurture aspiring athletes. Further celebrations are planned for November 15, Tribal Pride Day, in Jabalpur to commemorate her remarkable achievement.
