Kane Williamson, who holds the record for the most runs for New Zealand, turned 35 on August 8th. His selection into the national team followed a remarkable achievement: 40 centuries in club cricket. He is currently competing in the Hundred league in England.
Born in Tauranga, New Zealand, on August 8, 1990, Williamson developed his cricketing skills from a young age. He led the New Zealand U-19 team in the World Cup at 17.
Williamson made his international debut against India in 2010. He scored his first century in an ODI against Bangladesh. He was the youngest New Zealander to score a century. He scored a century in his debut match against India, becoming only the eighth New Zealander to do so. Over his career, he has set several records.
He captained New Zealand to their first WTC title in 2021, defeating India. He also led the team to the 2019 ODI World Cup final, where they were defeated by England. Williamson captained the team to the final of the T20 World Cup in 2021, where they lost to Australia. He has scored over 19,000 runs in his international career.
Williamson has played in 371 international matches, scoring 19,086 runs with 48 centuries. He has played 105 Tests, scoring 9,276 runs at an average of 54.88, with 33 centuries and 37 half-centuries. In ODIs, he has 173 matches, 7,235 runs at an average of 49.21, including 15 centuries and 47 half-centuries. In T20Is, he has 93 matches, 2,575 runs at 33.44 average, with 18 half-centuries. Williamson has played in the Indian Premier League for Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans. He has not been part of the Kiwi team since the Champions Trophy.
