India has officially been crowned champions of the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, marking a historic milestone for the nation’s cricket. While the team’s incredible performance has sparked widespread jubilation, the question of a formal victory parade remains open. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that plans for any official felicitation or public celebration are yet to be finalized.
BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia indicated that the board will deliberate on celebration arrangements once key officials return from Dubai, where they are scheduled to attend ICC meetings from November 4th to 7th. The outcome of these meetings and the subsequent return of the delegation will pave the way for scheduling any potential victory parade or ceremony.
In addition to planning celebrations, the BCCI will also use the Dubai meetings to address the outstanding issue of the Asia Cup trophy. The board plans to follow up on the trophy that has reportedly not yet been handed over to the Indian women’s team.
The thrilling final match, which saw India secure a 52-run victory over South Africa, was held on November 2nd at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. India batted first, posting a formidable 298 for 7. This score was largely built on an explosive 87 by Shafali Verma, who made a significant impact as an injury replacement, supported by contributions from Smriti Mandhana (45), Deepti Sharma (52), and Richa Ghosh (34).
South Africa’s chase was spearheaded by captain Laura Wolvaardt’s century, but India’s disciplined bowling attack, featuring a stellar 5/39 from Deepti Sharma and crucial breakthroughs by Shafali Verma, ultimately sealed the historic win. The nation celebrates this monumental achievement, eagerly awaiting official announcements regarding the victory festivities.
