In a commanding display at the Terdthai Cricket Ground in Bangkok, the Indian women’s team clinched the ACC Women’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2026 title with a resounding 46-run victory over Bangladesh on February 22. Opting to bat first after winning the toss, India set a challenging target of 135 for 7 in their 20 overs, overcoming an early collapse to post a competitive total.
The innings began disastrously for India, slumping to 44 for 4 with Vrinda Dinesh scoring 19, Nandin Kasyap and Anushka Sharma managing 8 each, and Minu Mani dismissed for a duck. But captain Radha Yadav and Tejal Hasabnis steadied the ship with a crucial 69-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
Yadav fell for a brisk 36 off 30 balls, featuring one six and three fours, when the score was 113. Hasabnis then anchored the innings with a match-winning half-century, smashing 51 off 34 balls with two sixes and three boundaries. Their efforts propelled India to 134 for 7.
Bangladesh’s captain Fahima Khatun shone with the ball, claiming 4 for 25 in her 4 overs, supported by Farzana Easmin and Fatima Jahan Sonia with one wicket each. Chasing 135, Bangladesh crumbled to 88 all out in 19.1 overs. Shamima Sultana top-scored with 20, followed by Sarmins Sultana’s 18 and Fahima’s 14.
India’s bowlers dominated, led by Prema Rawat’s 3 wickets, with Sonia Mendhia and Tanuja Kanwar taking 2 each, and Sayma Thokar and Minu Mani claiming one apiece. This triumph marks a promising start for India’s young talents in Asian cricket, showcasing resilience and depth in the squad.
