IND vs ENG T20I: National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) has expanded the scope of its anti-doping program. For this he has included 14 star cricketers from India. Know which players are involved in this.
IND vs ENG T20I: The 5-match T20 series between India and England is going to start from today i.e. 22nd January. The first match is going to be held in Kolkata. Before this series, the country’s anti-doping agency NADA (National Anti-Doping Agency) has taken a big decision. NADA has included 14 prominent players of the country in its Registered Testing Pool (RTP). These include big names like Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, and Hardik Pandya.
Who is in NADA’s RTP list?
The players included under RTP by NADA include captain Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Arshdeep Singh, Sanju Samson, and Tilak Verma. Among the women players are Shefali Verma, Deepti Sharma, and Renuka Singh Thakur.
Why was this step taken?
This step of NADA is to bring the players under scrutiny and increase awareness against doping among the athletes. Samples of some players will be taken at different match venues of the white ball series and they will be tested. This process is done to prevent doping among players and athletes and to make them aware. Its purpose is only to increase awareness.
Does joining RTP mean danger?
Involvement in RTP does not mean that players are involved in doping. This is simply part of NADA’s anti-doping program. However, after being included in the RTP list, players have to provide their training location, contact details, and other necessary information to NADA on time.
These players were included in 2019
This is not the first time that NADA has included players in the RTP. Cricketers have been a part of this before also. The year 1019 included KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Cheteshwar Pujara, Smriti Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma. Then in the year 2020, due to the lockdown, some players did not give information on time, due to which they were warned.
Action will be taken if rules are violated
If players involved in RTP do not submit their information to NADA within 12 months, it will be considered a violation of the rules. In such a situation the agency can take action.
