IND vs ENG T20I: After returning from Australia tour, the Indian team is now busy in its preparations for England’s tour of India. Meanwhile, Team India was announced for the five-match T20 series starting from January 22. On Saturday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made the official announcement of the Indian team. From this series, India’s star fast bowler Mohammed Shami will return to the team after 14 months, while Axar Patel has been made the vice-captain for this series.

Let us tell you that on the India tour, the England team will first play a 5-match T20 series. The first match will be played in Kolkata on 22 January. After T20, there will be a 3-match ODI series between India and England.

    Akshar got a big responsibility

BCCI has made a lot of changes for the series against the English team, like Vijaykumar Vaishak, Avesh Khan and Yash Dayal, who were part of the last T20 series, have been shown the way out of the team, while Hardik Pandya has also got a place in the squad. The selectors have taken a big decision by appointing Akshar Patel as vice-captain.

    Akshar Patel’s brilliant performance

It is noteworthy that Akshar Patel has performed brilliantly with ball and bat in the limited overs format in the last few years. He played an important role in winning the T20 World Cup 2024. In 16 T20 matches played in 2024, he took 20 wickets at an average of 16.30. Considering his performance, the selectors have given him the responsibility of vice-captain.

Reddy and Sundar return to the squad

If we talk about the Indian team’s squad announced for the T20 series against England, it sees the return of all-rounder players Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar. Apart from this, Harshit Rana is also a part of the team for the T20 series.

    Shami is back

Shami is out of the Indian team since the final of ODI World Cup 2023. He was injured during the tournament following which he had ankle surgery earlier this year. After this he returned to domestic cricket. Meanwhile, there was news that the fast bowler will return to international cricket through the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. However, this was not possible due to fitness reasons. Now Shami has been made a part of the 15-member squad for the T20 series against England.

Indian team for T20 series against England
