This could potentially affect the popularity of the IPL. Notably, GST is not applied to tickets for recognized sports events. If a ticket for a recognized sports event costs ₹500, no GST will be levied, but tickets priced higher than that will attract an 18% GST. Furthermore, the GST Council has also decided to impose a 40% GST on activities such as betting, gambling, lotteries, horse racing, and online money gaming.
