New Delhi’s golfing landscape is set for a revolutionary shift as the Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) unveiled its ambitious Golf Growth Initiative on Thursday. This landmark program, launched in collaboration with the Indian Golf Union (IGU), Professional Golfers’ Association of India (PGAI), and The Golf Foundation (TGF), promises to unearth and nurture India’s future golf stars.

The launch event at the prestigious Delhi Golf Club drew golf legends and sports icons, including former tennis ace Leander Paes, who expressed optimism about producing Olympic champions through golf and other sports. Under the mentorship of senior golf luminaries like Jeev Milkha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa, Shiv Kapoor, Gaganjeet Bhullar, SSP Chaurasia, and Gaurav Ghai, the initiative aims to democratize access to the sport.

By bringing golf directly to schools and playgrounds across the nation, IGPL seeks to engage children and youth from every corner of India. The goal is clear: build a robust pipeline of world-class golfers capable of shining on global stages and elevating India’s presence in international competitions.

In a major boost, IGPL announced world-class training facilities in Gurgaon, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh this year. These centers will scout emerging talent and provide professional-grade infrastructure to hone their skills.

Leander Paes shared his excitement, stating his pride in partnering with IGPL and these golf greats. Jeev Milkha Singh emphasized grassroots development, drawing from his 35+ years as a pro. ‘If we don’t reach the ground level, golf has no future,’ he asserted, highlighting the inclusive platform for boys, girls, and juniors.

Jyoti Randhawa focused on youth preparation, predicting accelerated growth in the coming years. Gaganjeet Bhullar, a 2024 Paris Olympian, underscored the milestone of national representation and his medal aspirations.

This initiative marks a pivotal moment for Indian golf, blending elite mentorship with widespread accessibility to foster a new era of champions.
