New Delhi: Hardik Pandya delivered a match-winning performance against Namibia, smashing 52 runs off 28 balls with four sixes and four fours, while also claiming 2 wickets for 21 runs. This all-round brilliance earned him the Player of the Match award in India’s dominant victory.
Post-match, Pandya reflected on his joy in playing. ‘I’m just enjoying the game,’ he said. ‘The last few months of preparation have been fantastic, helping me find rhythm and get my body in shape. Everything’s going smoothly so far.’
As an all-rounder, Pandya has always taken pride in his batting. ‘I’ve always been proud of my batting skills,’ he emphasized. ‘Whenever I get the chance, I ensure both my batting and bowling are managed perfectly. Batting has always been close to my heart, and when it clicks, it’s like icing on the cake.’
On his fitness, Pandya revealed a rigorous routine. ‘My body feels incredible right now. It takes a lot of hard work, which I love. Playing for the country is a matter of pride and my top priority. I put in extra effort, sometimes putting myself through an army camp-like regime with morning and evening sessions. Before big series or tournaments, I dedicate a full month to proper nutrition, sleep, and habits.’
Praising the team’s depth, he noted, ‘We have plenty of options in fast bowling and spin. Some days the pitch favors pacers, and they step up. Our spinners have been outstanding in the middle overs—Varun, Axar, and Kuldeep have shone whenever given the ball. The quick bowlers have done the same. Overall, the team has performed exceptionally.’
India posted 209/9, powered by Ishan Kishan’s 61 and Pandya’s 52. Namibia crumbled to 116 in 18.2 overs, handing India a convincing win.
