Winning a Test series in England is a significant accomplishment, especially for teams from the Indian subcontinent. India has toured England numerous times, aiming for cricketing success. India has won only three out of 19 Test series played on English soil.

In 1971, under Ajit Wadekar, India secured its first Test series win in England. Before this, India had not won a Test match in England. The series began with two draws, but the final Test at The Oval resulted in a victory, leading to a 1-0 series win. This win was a significant moment for Indian cricket.

In 1986, under Kapil Dev, India stunned England again. India won the first Test at Lord’s and the second at Headingley. The series ended with a 2-0 win, marking the first time India won more than one Test in a series in England. This victory showcased the strength of Indian cricket.

In 2007, under Rahul Dravid, India won its most recent Test series in England. After a draw at Lord’s, India won the second Test at Trent Bridge. The series concluded with a 1-0 victory. This win, after 31 years, was a significant milestone.

In 2025, Team India, with Shubman Gill as captain, will be playing in England. The upcoming match is highly anticipated. The question remains whether India can achieve victory.
