Gerard Piqué, renowned for his football achievements with FC Barcelona, Spain, and Manchester United, has successfully reinvented himself. His shift from the football field to business, entertainment, and esports marks a significant career transition. Participating in the Esports World Cup 2025 in Riyadh, Piqué emphasized his belief that esports is the future of entertainment.

During his time in Riyadh, Piqué acknowledged the impressive setup and the extensive investment made by Saudi Arabia. He participated in the Showmatch during EWC’s EA FC game week. He also explored the EWC Festival and made an appearance on EWC Spotlight, a live show featuring celebrity guests and esports insiders. Piqué is expanding his Kings League, a seven-a-side football competition with esports-inspired rules, into the MENA region. This venture, in collaboration with Surge, aims to cater to the enthusiasm for both football and esports in the Middle East. Piqué sees esports as a burgeoning sector offering numerous opportunities. He praised Saudi Arabia’s forward-thinking approach in targeting a young audience through esports. As the Esports World Cup 2025 unfolds, Piqué aims to be central in blurring the lines between traditional sports and esports.
