He broke a 16-year-old record by defeating left-arm spinner Mohammad Rafiq.
Former Bangladeshi spinner Mohammad Rafiq played his last Test in 2008 at the age of 37 years and 180 days. He held the record of being the oldest cricketer. Now, after 16 years, Shakib stepped into the Chennai Test on the third day at the age of 37 years and 181 days and left Rafiq behind.
