Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham has proven to be a challenging venue for the Indian cricket team, particularly in Test match encounters. Across all formats, India has participated in 169 matches in England, achieving nine Test wins, 45 ODI victories, and six T20I wins. However, at Edgbaston, the team has faced a different narrative in Test cricket, having lost all eight matches played at the ground. This streak began with India’s first match there in 1967. In ODIs, India has shown more promise, winning eight out of twelve matches at the venue.

The historical data reveals a difficult relationship between India and Edgbaston in Tests. Indian batsmen have struggled, with only one instance of surpassing 300 runs in 16 innings. The team’s lowest score is 92. India’s only draw at Edgbaston occurred in 1967, marking a series win for India. The ground has witnessed significant performances, such as Alastair Cook’s 294 in 2011, which contributed to England’s innings and 242-run win, during which England scored a record 710/7. In a recent match in 2022, England successfully pursued a target of 378 set by India, achieving victory with seven wickets remaining.
