Indian weightlifter Bindyarani Devi introduced glory to the country as she clinched silver medal within the ladies’s 55 kg class on the Commonwealth Video games on Saturday (July 30).
The 23-year-old, who lifted a complete of 202 kgs in her first CWG, broke the Video games file for the easiest ‘blank and jerk’ raise within the 55 kg class with an effort of 116 kgs.

Bindyarani’s good fortune on the CWG 2022 ended in India successful 4 medals (all in weightlifting) on the second one day of the multi-sport tournament. Previous on Saturday, Tokyo Olympics silver medallist Mirabhai Chanu secured India’s first gold within the 2022 version of CWG. Mirabhai, who received gold right through the 2018 Video games, competed within the ladies’s 49 kg class.
Sanket Sargar secured silver medal within the males’s 55 kg class, whilst Gururaja Poojary received bronze within the males’s 61 kg class.
Bindyarani, who’s a black belt at Taekwondo, informed India These days: “I’m feeling more than pleased that I’ve received the silver medal within the Commonwealth Video games. The coaches helped me so much along the organisations in India. My coaches have labored so much on my methodology. No matter recommendation they provide me, I’m going to my room and give it some thought, which is helping me later.”
