Pakistan cricket has faced controversies, with its players sometimes involved in incidents that bring shame to the team. These range from fights with opposing team players to disagreements with fans, and sometimes internal disputes. Pakistani players are known for their fiery temperaments, regardless of their own mistakes. The recent behavior of Pakistani wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris mirrors this trend. After a series of low scores, he expressed his frustration by violently breaking his bat during a live match.

Haris was selected for the T20 series in the UAE, a precursor to the Asia Cup 2025. Despite his poor form, the team management backed him, offering him opportunities in the first two tri-series matches. However, he failed to capitalize on these opportunities. Against Afghanistan, he only managed to score 15 runs from 13 balls. Against the weaker UAE team, he was out after scoring just 1 run from 2 balls.

During a match in Sharjah on August 30, Haris was quickly dismissed by UAE’s Junaid Siddiqui. Haris attempted a shot toward the third man, but the fielder took an easy catch. This led to Haris’s anger, and he took his frustration out on his bat, which he aggressively slammed to the ground. The video of this act went viral, leading to criticism. The batsman has been struggling to perform, accumulating only 37 runs from 42 balls across his last eight innings.
