Nitish Rana, the West Delhi Lions’ captain in the DPL 2025, reflected on his heated exchange with Digvesh Rathi during their Eliminator match against the South Delhi Superstarz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The sequence of events began when Rathi pulled back during his bowling approach, with Rana responding in kind on the next ball. The situation intensified when Rana hit a six in the same over. This appeared to further agitate Rathi. A verbal disagreement escalated between the two players, prompting intervention from other members of the South Delhi Superstarz. Rana emphasized the importance of respecting the game, irrespective of right or wrong, and his commitment to the game. Rana stated that he wouldn’t start a fight, but he wouldn’t sit quietly if provoked. Rana mentioned that he has been involved in multiple fights but never initiated any. Rana’s upbringing, based on the principle of self-defense, guides his actions in such scenarios. Both Rana and Rathi were sanctioned for their actions, with Rathi facing an 80% fine of his match fees and Rana a 50% fine.
