The Asia Cup 2025 victory has been overshadowed by an unusual chain of events. Following India’s win against Pakistan, the Indian team chose not to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the Pakistan Cricket Board chief and Asia Cricket Council Chairman, which led to Naqvi allegedly taking the trophy in an attempt to spoil the celebrations. In a subsequent ACC meeting, Naqvi apologized to the BCCI but insisted on his position regarding the trophy. He demanded that Suryakumar Yadav collect it in Dubai. The BCCI countered this by questioning why Yadav would travel to Dubai if Naqvi did not present the trophy initially. Naqvi is set to depart for Lahore, maintaining his demand for Yadav to collect the trophy. The BCCI, however, insists on the trophy’s immediate return, and is now considering lodging a formal complaint with the ICC. During the meeting, Naqvi was compelled to congratulate India by a BCCI representative. The BCCI maintains that the trophy belongs to them and should be returned.
