Coco Gauff achieved a career milestone by winning her first French Open women’s singles title. The American tennis player, at 21, overcame World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a captivating final on Court Philippe-Chatrier on June 7. Gauff’s victory was sealed with a score of 6-7 (5), 6-2, 6-4. This win is particularly significant as it follows her 2023 US Open win, also against Sabalenka, making it her second Grand Slam title. Additionally, it’s Gauff’s first title on clay this season, and it gives her a 6-5 head-to-head lead over Sabalenka, providing sweet revenge for her earlier defeat in the Madrid Open final.
