    The June 2025 FIDE Rankings have shaken up the chess world, particularly for India. Following the Norway Chess 2025, where Indian players excelled, the rankings have shifted. Magnus Carlsen won the Norway Chess tournament for a record seventh time, followed by Fabiano Caruana. D Gukesh secured third place. Hikaru Nakamura and Arjun Erigaisi completed the top five.

    A major upset has occurred in the FIDE Rankings, with Arjun Erigaisi surpassing D Gukesh to become India’s top chess player. Erigaisi now holds the third spot in the world with an Elo rating of 2782, while Gukesh is in fifth with 2776. Erigaisi’s consistency at the international level marks a significant achievement.
