In a stunning turnaround at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara, Delhi Capitals halted Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s winning streak in the Women’s Premier League 2026. The Capitals secured a commanding seven-wicket victory in the 15th match of the season, propelling them to second place on the points table.
This triumph marks Delhi’s third win in six outings, a crucial boost as they solidify their playoff contention. RCB, who had been unbeaten in their previous five encounters and already qualified for the next stage, faced their first defeat, ending their dominant run.
Opting to bat first after losing the toss, RCB struggled from the outset. Grace Harris partnered with captain Smriti Mandhana for a 36-run stand in just 5.3 overs before Harris departed for 9. Mandhana then anchored with Georgia Ware for 26 runs, pushing the score to 62. The skipper fell for a gritty 38 off 34 balls, featuring six fours and a six. Ware added 11, while Radha Yadav chipped in with 18, but RCB collapsed to 109 all out.
Delhi’s bowlers shone brightly. Nandini Sharma claimed a remarkable three wickets, with Chinelle Henry, Marizanne Kapp, and Minnu Mani each grabbing two.
Chasing a modest target, Capitals weathered an early storm, losing openers Shafali Verma (16) and Lizelle Lee (6) at 24. Laura Wolvaardt and Jemimah Rodrigues then scripted a match-defining 52-run partnership off 49 balls for the third wicket, steering the team towards victory.
Rodrigues departed for 24 off 26 balls with four boundaries, but Wolvaardt remained not out alongside Kapp, who was also unbeaten. They added 35 runs unbroken, sealing the win in 15.4 overs. Sayali Satghare took two wickets for RCB, with Radha Yadav claiming one.
This result underscores Delhi’s bowling prowess and middle-order resilience, setting the stage for an intense WPL battle ahead.
