Srikkanth’s analysis includes his preferred opening partnership, which notably excludes Sanju Samson. Instead, he champions a younger opening duo, featuring Abhishek Sharma, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, and Sai Sudarshan. This bold suggestion has ignited discussions among cricket fans and experts alike.
During his discussion on his YouTube channel, ‘Chikki Chika,’ Srikkanth emphasized his preference for Abhishek Sharma as the first opening batsman and proposed selecting either Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudarshan, or Vaibhav Suryavanshi to partner with him. This choice marks a strategic move, focusing on the potential of up-and-coming players.
The decision to exclude Sanju Samson from the opening lineup is primarily due to his perceived weaknesses against short-pitched deliveries, as evident in the T20 series against England. Srikkanth pointed out Samson’s difficulties in that series. ‘Sanju Samson didn’t fare well against the short ball against England. In my opinion, it’s challenging for him to open. If I were a selector, Abhishek Sharma would be my top pick. For the second spot, I would opt for either Vaibhav Suryavanshi or Sai Sudarshan,’ he stated.
Srikkanth has also expressed his support for including Vaibhav Suryavanshi, praising his exceptional form. He also acknowledged Sai Sudarshan’s Orange Cap and the promising performances of Yashasvi Jaiswal, suggesting one of the three should open with Abhishek Sharma. Furthermore, he suggests choosing between Samson and Jitesh Sharma for the wicketkeeper-batsman role.
