Armaan Jaffer has been dropped from the Pondicherry cricket team due to a breach of contract. Jaffer, the nephew of former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer, chose to play in a tournament in Yorkshire, England, rather than participate in the Pondicherry Cricket Association’s pre-season inter-state tournament. This decision led to the termination of his contract. The selectors of Pondicherry had written to Jaffer, informing him and his father about the importance of participating in the pre-season matches. Many prominent players made themselves available for these matches, but Jaffer chose to prioritize UK club cricket. Jayant Yadav will take his place in the team for the next season.
