Following South Africa’s World Test Championship victory against Australia, Aiden Markram discussed the emotional impact of the team’s T20 World Cup loss to India. Markram, who scored 136 runs in the final and earned the Player of the Match award, revealed that the previous defeat played a significant role in his determination. He admitted that the feeling of being ‘hopeless’ during the T20 World Cup final motivated him to perform better in the WTC Final. Markram had a strong comeback despite being dismissed for a duck in the first innings. The WTC win extended South Africa’s unbeaten streak in Test cricket to eight matches, a record for the team in the WTC era.
