Abhishek Sharma Eyes 100 Sixes Milestone in IPL 2026

by World Opinion

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s explosive opener Abhishek Sharma is on the cusp of etching his name in IPL history during the 2026 season. Known for his fearless batting in both international cricket and the IPL, Abhishek has been a consistent performer for SRH since 2019. His aggressive style lit up the T20 World Cup 2026 final with a match-defining half-century that propelled India to glory.

As IPL 2026 kicks off on March 28, all eyes are on Abhishek to achieve a rare feat. In 74 matches for SRH up to IPL 2025, he has smashed 96 sixes. Just four more boundaries over the fence, and he’ll join an elite club as only the second SRH batter to reach the 100-six mark for the franchise.

The pioneer in this achievement is none other than David Warner, SRH’s former captain and 2016 IPL champion. Warner bludgeoned 143 sixes in 95 matches between 2014 and 2021, setting a high bar. Abhishek’s impending milestone underscores his rapid rise and parallels Warner’s destructive prowess.

But that’s not all. Abhishek is also nearing 2,000 runs for SRH, needing just 247 more. Currently fourth on the franchise’s all-time run-scorers list with 1,753 runs—including one century and nine fifties—he could leapfrog Kane Williamson into third place. Williamson scored 2,101 runs in 76 games from 2015 to 2022.

Warner tops the charts with 4,014 runs (two centuries, 40 fifties), followed by Shikhar Dhawan with 2,768 runs (21 fifties) from 2013 to 2018. With Abhishek back in top form and a long tournament ahead, fans are buzzing about his potential ‘special century’—both in runs and sixes. SRH supporters hope he delivers fireworks right from the opening match.
