The Indian team’s performance in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy saw the five-match Test series end in a 2-2 draw. However, certain players did not get a chance to play and were confined to the bench. This led to disappointment for an opening batsman who shared his feelings with his father. His father disclosed the conversation revealing the player’s unhappiness. Now, head coach Gautam Gambhir has offered encouragement to the player, potentially leading to the end of the four-year wait for Abhimanyu Easwaran.

Easwaran was confident he would play in the fifth Test match against England, but his exclusion from the playing XI caused him distress. His father, Ranganathan Parameswaran Easwaran, shared details of a phone conversation where his son expressed his disappointment at not getting a place in the team.

Despite a strong showing for India-A in England, Easwaran was still left out of the playing XI. He was included in the Indian team in 2021-22, but has yet to make his debut. Easwaran’s father also revealed that coach Gautam Gambhir provided his son with significant reassurance.

Even after the last Test, opening batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran was disappointed. His father, Parameswaran Easwaran, said that coach Gautam Gambhir spoke to his son, assuring him that he was on the right track and would get his chance. Gambhir also told him that he would have a long career with Team India.

Gambhir stated, “I am not the one to drop you after one or two matches. I will give you a long opportunity.” Abhimanyu mentioned that the whole coaching staff made him feel secure that he will get what he deserves. Parameswaran Easwaran mentioned that his son has waited four years to represent his country and has dedicated 23 years to the sport. Upon returning from England, Abhimanyu has begun preparing for the Duleep Trophy.

Abhimanyu Easwaran’s father shared that his son will be traveling to Bengaluru for Duleep Trophy preparations. He will be there for 10-12 days. He will also briefly visit Dehradun. Abhimanyu Easwaran joined the Indian team in 2021-22 but hasn’t been in the playing XI yet, even though 15 players have debuted since then. The opening batsman has played in 103 first-class matches and has scored 7841 runs with an average of 48.70.
