Badminton enthusiasts are in for a treat as the Yonex Sunrise India Open 2024 kicks off from January 13 to 18 in New Delhi. This Super 750 tournament promises high-octane action with the world’s elite shuttlers descending upon the KD Jadav Indoor Hall.

Defending champions like India’s own PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen will be eager to reclaim their glory. Sindhu, who triumphed in the women’s singles last year, faces stiff competition from Olympic champion Chen Yufei of China and world No. 1 An Se-young of South Korea. On the men’s side, Lakshya Sen aims to build on his bronze from the Asian Games, battling it out against the likes of Anders Antonsen and Kodai Naraoka.

The doubles categories are equally stacked. India’s Tanisha Crasto and Ashwini Ponnappa will represent the hosts in women’s doubles, while the men’s doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, fresh off their Asian Games gold, are top seeds and fan favorites.

Organized by the Badminton Association of India under the Badminton World Federation banner, the event offers 7000 ranking points and a hefty prize purse of USD 710,000. With live streaming on Sports 18 and JioCinema, fans across India won’t miss a rally.

This tournament marks a crucial stop in the BWF World Tour calendar, serving as a key preparation ground for the Paris Olympics. Expect nail-biting matches, strategic brilliance, and perhaps a few upsets as players fine-tune their form. Stay tuned for updates as the shuttlecock flies high in the national capital.
