New Delhi buzzes with political fireworks as Rajasthan’s Leader of Opposition Tika Ram Juli unleashes a scathing critique against the BJP. Targeting the nomination of Nitin Nabin for national president, Juli branded it a mere theatrical stunt. ‘BJP has no real stake in democracy,’ he declared, emphasizing their reluctance to elevate a Dalit to the top post.
In an exclusive interview, the Congress stalwart dissected the BJP’s inner workings. ‘Just two individuals pull the strings, handpicking leaders to their liking and steering the party at will,’ Juli asserted. He dismissed any genuine intent to appoint a Dalit president, calling it a facade for optics.
Turning to the contentious Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in Rajasthan, Juli exposed what he sees as a systematic purge. ‘Millions of voters had completed verification and draft publication stages smoothly until Amit Shah’s visit,’ he recounted. Post-visit, a flood of deletion requests poured in, with Juli personally receiving nearly 25,000, many bearing forged signatures.
‘Demanding a probe by the Election Commission and Supreme Court into these dubious forms is imperative,’ he urged, labeling it a grave anomaly. Rajasthan’s SIR, he argued, has morphed into a ‘Congress Voter Removal’ campaign, echoing Bihar’s controversies. Despite vigilance with booth-level agents under the state president’s oversight, no initial glitches surfaced.
Juli pivoted to broader failures, slamming BJP’s silence on Alwar’s industrial hub Bhiwadi’s woes, Delhi’s chaos, Yamuna’s pollution resurgence post-Bihar polls cleanup show, and ongoing Aravalli mining approvals despite local ministerial representation. ‘Their focus is solely on Bengal elections; real issues get ignored,’ he charged.
On West Bengal, he advised PM Modi to address Hindu plight in Bangladesh before targeting Mamata Banerjee. ‘She’s responded firmly; this will backfire,’ Juli predicted. Rajasthan’s opposition, he vowed, stands resolute against manipulations.
