Rahul Dravid, often called the Wall of Indian cricket, embodied humility and resilience throughout his illustrious career. From his debut in 1996 to retirement in 2012, he played 164 Tests and 344 ODIs, amassing over 13,000 Test runs and 10,000 ODI runs. His stoic batting under pressure earned him legendary status.

Transitioning seamlessly to coaching, Dravid took charge of India’s U-19 team in 2015. Under his guidance, the young squad clinched the 2018 U-19 World Cup, showcasing his talent for nurturing future stars like Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill.

His crowning achievement came as head coach of the senior team from 2021. Despite heartbreaks in major ICC tournaments, Dravid’s strategic acumen shone brightest at the 2024 T20 World Cup. Leading a revamped Indian side, he orchestrated a flawless campaign, defeating South Africa in the final to end an 11-year ICC trophy drought.

Dravid’s coaching philosophy emphasized process over results, fitness, and mental toughness. Players credit his calm demeanor for building a fearless team. As he steps away, his legacy as both player and coach cements him as one of cricket’s greatest ambassadors.

India’s triumph reaffirms Dravid’s enduring impact, inspiring a new generation to uphold the sport’s values of grit and grace.
