How Much Will He Earn From Playing IPL?

According to a media statement from IPL, the Caribbean speedster will join the Lucknow-based franchise for Rs 3 Crore. (Umesh Yadav Reacts After Being Ignored By BCCI For India vs England Last 3 Tests)

Following his stupendous performance during the West Indies tour to Australia, this will mark Joseph’s first stint in the iconic T20 tournament in India.

“Joseph will join LSG for Rs 3 Crore. The speedster was recently at the forefront during West Indies’ Test win at the Gabba. He picked 7 wickets in the 2nd innings to script a historic win in Australia for West Indies. This will be Joseph’s first stint in the IPL,” IPL stated in an official statement.

Earlier this week, the 24-year-old was nominated for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month Award for January 2024. The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the nominees.

During his Test debut, right-armer Joseph made an immediate impact, taking Australia batsman Steve Smith’s wicket with his first delivery.

Joseph scooped up four Australian wickets on his debut in Adelaide, finishing with fantastic numbers of 5-94. He followed this up with solid scores of 36 and 15 when he batted for his side at No. 11.

The star pacer delivered an even greater effort in the West Indies’ victory over Australia in the second Test in Brisbane, bowling 7-68 to help the Caribbean side win their first Test in Australia since 1997. He scored 57 runs at 28.50 in two Tests and grabbed 13 wickets at an impressive 17.30.

It sounds like Joseph’s cricket journey is taking some interesting turns! Despite the setback with the toe injury preventing him from playing for the Dubai Capitals in the ILT20 season, it’s promising that he’s attracting attention from teams like Peshawar Zalmi in the PSL. And it’s quite a testament to his potential that Daren Sammy sees him as a viable option for the West Indies T20 World Cup squad, especially considering his limited experience in T20 cricket so far. It’ll be exciting to see how Joseph continues to develop and whether he can make an impact on the international stage.

  • Senate slowly forges ahead on foreign aid bill

Washington — A $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel and the Indo-Pacific could be on its way to the House early next week after months of setbacks in the Senate.

The Senate voted 64 to 19 on Friday night to officially begin debate on the foreign aid supplemental and is expected to work through the weekend after some Republicans demanded that the legislation include border security provisions, while others objected to it outright.

The procedural vote sets up several days of debate and additional votes that are likely to bleed into the start of the Senate’s two-week recess, which is supposed to begin Monday.

“The Senate will keep working on this bill until the job is done,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a New York Democrat, said Friday.

On Thursday, the Senate crossed its first hurdle in getting the supplemental across the finish line after Republicans blocked a bipartisan border security deal that included the foreign aid. The foreign aid portion was then separated from the larger bill, but the Senate delayed a procedural vote to advance the stripped-down version that was expected to happen Wednesday night amid disagreements about how to proceed.

“Yesterday the Senate cleared the first major procedural hurdle to passing the national security supplemental. It was a good and very important first step,” Schumer said.

But Democrats and Republicans did not yet have an agreement on amendments, which would speed up final passage, Schumer said.

“Democrats are willing to consider reasonable and fair amendments,” he said.

Sen. Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican, said he would “object to anything speeding up this rotten foreign spending bill’s passage.”

If the bill survives the remaining disputes and can pass the Senate, it still faces barriers in the House, where many Republicans are opposed to additional Ukraine aid.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, a Louisiana Republican, was noncommittal on Wednesday about the bill’s future in the lower chamber.

“We’re allowing the process to play out and we’ll handle it as it is sent over,” Johnson told reporters.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries indicated Thursday that Democrats could attempt to force a vote on the foreign aid bill. Democrats could use a procedural step known as a discharge petition to get around House GOP leaders, but it would require a handful of Republicans to sign on to it to give Democrats the 218 signatures required. A discharge petition enables lawmakers to force a vote on the House floor, but it can take days or weeks to put the measure to a vote.

“House Democrats are prepared to use every available legislative tool to make sure we get comprehensive national security legislation over the finish line,” the New York Democrat said in a statement.

  • ED could neither present evidence nor strong documents or evidence in the court: Bandhu Tirkey

Ranchi: Bandhu Tirkey, former minister, member of the coordination committee of the Jharkhand government and working president of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee, has said that today the Enforcement Directorate (ED) could neither present evidence nor strong documents or evidence in the PMLA Special Court. He said that the way all constitutional provisions have been flouted to arrest the Chief Minister of a state is unfortunate. Mr. Tirkey expressed confidence that tomorrow there is every possibility of getting relief not only from Ranchi but also from the Supreme Court. He said that he has full respect for the competent court. Shri Tirkey said that since the matter is judicial, it would be better to present his points point wise.

    Enforcement Directorate (ED) allegations

    1. To acquire 8.5 decimal land in Bariatu Bargai in one’s name.

    2. Approximately Rs. 36,00,000/- (Rs. thirty-six lakh) and some documents were recovered from the government residence in Delhi.

Provision of law and reasoning of legal experts

    1. Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) is a special law.

    2. PMLA can be registered only in case of violation of a scheduled offense of this law.

    3. No sections of scheduled crime have been imposed against the Honorable Chief Minister nor is there any mention of scheduled crime being committed in this case.

    4. There is neither any alleged land in the name of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, nor any agreement nor any Jamabandi.

    5. An FIR was lodged against Circle Officer (CI) Bhanu Pratap only on the orders of Chief Minister Soren, after which ED sent Bhanu Pratap and others to jail.

    6. If Chief Minister Soren had a hand in the said land scam, an FIR would never have been filed by CM Soren.

    7. If it had not been done then CM Soren should have been arrested by ED in the same FIR.

    8. Since ED did not find anything against CM Soren, ED did not even interrogate CM Soren in that case.

    6. As far as the land situated in Bargai is concerned, that land is brown land.

    7. According to the rules, brown land cannot be transferred.

    8. Neither the government nor the court has any authority regarding Bhuihari land.

    9. The owner of Bhuihari land is Pahan who issues the receipt for the land.

    10. Thus there is no question of Chief Minister Soren taking that land.

    11. ED could not show any proof in the court that the said land was in the name of CM Soren.

    12. ED does not have the right to investigate the recovery of cash because the case does not fall under the category of scheduled crime, yet planting the money cannot be ruled out by ED.

    13. The ED had no authority to arrest CM Soren nor is there any concrete evidence.

    14. The Supreme Court has said in many of its decisions that ED cannot arrest anyone during interrogation.

    15. CM Soren has been arrested by the ED by abusing its powers, while the case is listed in the court of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court tomorrow.

Our popular Chief Minister Hemant Soren has been implicated in the conspiracy by ED, but the way ED could not present its strong evidence and evidence during the court debate today, it is clear that it was acting at the behest of someone only out of a feeling of resistance and Is working on unsolicited orders. We have full confidence that tomorrow a decision will be taken from the competent court in favor of Honorable Shri Hemant Soren ji.

  • Meta Will Stop Suggesting Political Content To Users On Both Instagram And Threads |

New Delhi: Instagram users can now expect relief from unwanted political content flooding their feeds. According to Variety, Instagram announced in a blog post that it will no longer “proactively recommend” political content from accounts that users have not already followed. This policy extends to Threads, the Twitter-like app introduced last summer under the Instagram brand.

The Meta-owned company said “We want Instagram and Threads to be a great experience for everyone. If you decide to follow accounts that post political content, we don’t want to get between you and their posts, but we also don’t want to proactively recommend political content from accounts you don’t follow,”. (Also Read: OpenAI Introduces Watermarking For AI-Generated Images Via DALL-E 3; Check Details)

Both apps will introduce a setting that allows users who wish to continue seeing political content recommendations to opt-in. According to the post, a similar control will be implemented on Facebook at a later time. Instagram defines “political content” as content potentially associated with topics such as laws, elections, or social issues. (Also Read: Tech Layoffs Surges By 136% In 2024; Is AI To Blame? “Our goal is to preserve the ability for people to choose to interact with political content, while respecting each person’s appetite for it,” Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, stated in a post on Threads.

The updated policy to discontinue recommending political content applies to areas of Instagram including Explore, Reels, In-Feed Recommendations and Suggested Users. Meta has already been deprioritising political content across its social apps, including on Facebook.

“People have told us they want to see less political content, so we have spent the last few years refining our approach on Facebook to reduce the amount of political content – including from politicians’ accounts – you see in Feed, Reels, Watch, Groups You Should Join, and Pages You May Like,” the company explained in a post on its Transparency Center site, Variety reported.

The Instagram blog post noted that professional accounts on the app can check the Account Status setting to see if their posts are eligible to be recommended — based on whether they recently posted “political content.” If Instagram has blocked an account’s posts from recommendations, pro users may edit or remove recent posts to regain eligibility or request a review if they disagree with Instagram’s designation.
