In a landmark moment for global higher education, O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) has unveiled the World University Leaders Forum (WULF) during the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. This pioneering platform marks the first of its kind launched under the WEF banner, specifically tailored for university heads and academics worldwide.

The forum brings together educational leaders from diverse nations to exchange insights, share experiences, and collaboratively tackle pressing global challenges in higher education and society. From climate change to inequality, participants will forge solutions that bridge borders and foster sustainable progress.

Rooted in India’s ancient educational heritage and guided by the visionary leadership of Naveen Jindal, JGU has spent two decades building international partnerships. With over 600 collaborations across 80 countries, the university has made global engagement its cornerstone.

WULF stands as an open, democratic space where institutions from the Global North and South can connect, learn, and innovate together. It emphasizes education, research, policy-making, community service, and global partnerships, aligning closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Hosted by JGU Vice-Chancellor Professor C. Raj Kumar, the Davos event features prominent leaders from the US, UK, Japan, UAE, and beyond. Discussions will delve into the future of higher education, international cooperation, and advancing SDGs.

Professor Kumar highlighted JGU’s founding philosophy: linking minds, cultures, and ideas through higher education to serve humanity. ‘WULF provides a permanent platform for universities from North and South to lead collectively,’ he stated.

The inaugural panel will explore how universities can drive SDGs, promoting equity, innovation, and resilience. This aligns with WEF priorities like fostering collaboration in a competitive world, unlocking growth opportunities, investing in people, responsible tech use, and prosperity within planetary boundaries.

As a milestone in global higher education leadership, WULF extends JGU’s mission of fostering academic dialogue, institutional collaboration, and positive societal impact. It builds on events like the Asia Pacific Higher Education Summit and upcoming Global Conference of Star Scholars in 2026.

By creating an inclusive forum, WULF empowers university leaders to address critical issues in education and society, promoting cooperation across regions and inspiring active roles in knowledge creation, equity, innovation, and sustainable development.
