Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, met with key officers in Delhi to commend them on their crucial role in the recent successful anti-Naxal operations in Chhattisgarh. He conveyed the Modi government’s commitment to eliminating the Naxal threat.
These operations, conducted under the guidance of the Union Home Minister, saw the Chhattisgarh Police and its DRG units from various districts carry out a significant operation in the Abujhmad region from May 18 to May 21. A key outcome was the elimination of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gaganna, in an encounter in the Boter village forests on May 21. A large cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered.
The officers recognized included Arun Dev Gautam, Vivekanand, Sundarraj, Prabhat Kumar, Jitendra Yadav, and Shalabh Singh. The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka.
