In a nail-biting finish that had fans on the edge of their seats, the Hobart Hurricanes clinched a thrilling three-run victory over the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League. The match, played at a packed stadium, showcased the best of T20 cricket with drama unfolding right till the final ball.

The Hurricanes set a challenging target of 168 runs after a solid batting display. Captain Tim David led from the front, smashing a quickfire 52 off 28 balls, while opener Ben McDermott contributed a steady 45. Their partnership laid the foundation, but it was the lower order that pushed the score to a defendable total, with some lusty blows in the death overs.

Chasing 168, the Heat started aggressively. Josh Brown fired on all cylinders with a blistering 67 off 32 deliveries, including eight fours and four sixes. His innings kept Brisbane in the hunt, but the Hurricanes’ bowlers struck back at crucial junctures. Tom Rogers dismissed Brown in the 14th over, triggering a collapse.

Despite late resistance from Michael Neser, who remained unbeaten on 28 off 15, the Heat fell agonizingly short, finishing at 164/7. Nathan Ellis was the pick of the bowlers for Hobart, claiming 3/28, while spinner Paddy Dooley chipped in with 2/22. The victory propels the Hurricanes up the points table, keeping their playoff hopes alive.

This win marks the third consecutive victory for Hobart against Brisbane this season, highlighting their dominance in head-to-head clashes. As the BBL season intensifies, both teams will look to build on this momentum, with the Heat desperate to bounce back in their next outing.
