In a major breakthrough against organized crime in Jharkhand, Hazaribagh police have arrested two key members of the notorious Rahul Dubey gang who were plotting a violent extortion bid. The operation unfolded in the Urimari police station area, where officers seized a deadly arsenal including a carbine, pistols, AK-47 and SLR rifle magazines, live cartridges, a motorcycle, and mobile phones.
Senior Deputy Police Officer Amit Anand revealed that the gang targeted a colliery company in Urimari after it refused to pay extortion money. Under directives from gang leaders Rahul Dubey and Ashish Saw, the duo planned a shooting spree to instill fear. They arrived on a motorcycle for reconnaissance, but swift police action foiled their scheme.
Acting on precise intelligence, Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and launched an anti-crime checking drive. The first arrest came near a hotel where Rajdeep Saw was nabbed with a loaded police carbine, a country-made pistol, and live rounds. During interrogation, he confessed that additional weapons were hidden at the home of Munika Kumari in Hendegir village under Kerudari police station.
Raiding the location, police apprehended Munika and recovered a country-made pistol, live ammunition, four AK-47 magazines, five SLR magazines, and the motorcycle used in the plot. A case was registered against both on January 19, and they have been remanded to judicial custody. This crackdown underscores Hazaribagh police’s resolve to dismantle gangster networks threatening industrial safety and public peace.
The seizures highlight the gang’s firepower, raising alarms about arms proliferation in the region. Authorities are now probing deeper links to prevent future threats, ensuring collieries and citizens remain secure.
