Daryl Mitchell played a spectacular innings of 119 runs to guide New Zealand to a total of 300 all out against India in the first ODI at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Mitchell’s century, which came off 110 balls and included 12 boundaries and 4 sixes, was the backbone of the Kiwi innings after they opted to bat first. Despite a mid-innings wobble that saw them reduced to 69/3, Mitchell found support in captain Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips to push the score to a competitive level. India’s bowling attack, led by Washington Sundar’s 3/50, managed to take wickets at regular intervals to prevent a massive total. Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav also contributed with two wickets each. India now requires 301 runs to take a lead in the three-match series.
