In a landmark moment for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), working president Nithin Nabina is poised to file his nomination for the national president position. BJP spokesperson Pratul Shah Dev hailed this as a historic opportunity, underscoring the party’s merit-based ascent.
Speaking exclusively to reporters in Ranchi, Dev emphasized the transformative journey from grassroots to the top. ‘This is the beauty of BJP,’ he said. ‘A dedicated booth-level worker can rise to the highest echelons through sheer hard work and commitment.’ Nabina’s nomination, expected to be a formality, sends a powerful message to India’s youth: perseverance pays off in the BJP.
The election process, overseen by National Returning Officer and Rajya Sabha MP K. Laxman, kicks off with nominations accepted between 2 PM and 4 PM at party headquarters. Scrutiny follows immediately from 4 PM to 5 PM, with withdrawal window until 6 PM. Voting, if needed, is slated for January 20.
Dev didn’t hold back criticism of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of prioritizing appeasement and regularization of Bangladeshi infiltrators by providing voter IDs and Aadhaar cards. He highlighted the state government’s failure to complete border fencing in a 400-500 km stretch despite repeated central directives.
Shifting to the Magh Mela, Dev noted the record 3-4 crore crowd after 12 years, praising administrative efforts amid safety risks. A minor altercation arose when the administration requested the Shankaracharya to walk 100 meters instead of using a palanquin, which he refused, leading to protests from disciples.
On Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks about the Pakistan-China nexus, Dev affirmed its worrisome nature but credited PM Modi’s leadership over 11 years for elevating India to global power status, mitigating potential threats.
