Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with officers in Delhi who were instrumental in recent anti-Naxal operations conducted in Chhattisgarh. Shah lauded their historic success and reiterated the Modi government’s commitment to eradicating Naxalism from India. He expressed his eagerness to meet the brave jawans whose courage led to the success of these operations and announced a forthcoming visit to Chhattisgarh.
The operations, carried out under the guidance of the Union Home Minister, involved the Chhattisgarh Police, including DRG units from various districts, and took place in the Abujhmad region from May 18 to May 21. A significant encounter on May 21 in the Boter village forests resulted in the elimination of 27 Naxals, including CPI (Maoist) General Secretary Basavaraju alias Gaganna, along with the recovery of substantial arms and ammunition.
Among the officers honored were Chhattisgarh Director General of Police Arun Dev Gautam, Additional Director General of Police Vivekanand, Inspector General of Police Sundarraj, and several Superintendents of Police. The meeting was also attended by Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sharma, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, and the Director of the Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, along with other senior officials.
