In a shocking escalation of political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, former minister and YSR Congress Party leader Jogi Ramesh has publicly accused TDP minister Nara Lokesh of posing a direct threat to his life and that of his family. Speaking to reporters on Monday from his residence in Ibrahimpatnam, Ramesh warned that Lokesh must be held fully accountable if any harm befalls him or his loved ones in the future.

Ramesh detailed a brazen attack on his home the previous day, claiming it was orchestrated under Lokesh’s instructions and led by MP Kesineni Chinni. He alleged that TDP activists hurled petrol bombs at his house in the presence of police, who allegedly provided support rather than protection. This, he said, was part of a sinister plot to eliminate him and terrorize his family.

Flanked by YSRCP leaders from Krishna and NTR districts, Ramesh invoked his devotion to Lord Venkateswara and loyalty to YSR Jagan Mohan Reddy. He questioned whether he should remain silent amid false accusations against his leader. The assault, he asserted, aims to silence voices critiquing the government’s failures and intimidate BC leaders within YSRCP from speaking out.

Hundreds of TDP workers were mobilized for the attack, Ramesh claimed, framing it as an assault on democracy and marginalized communities. Despite providing evidence and naming culprits, no arrests have been made against the attackers, while cases pile up against him. During the incident, his father, wife, and son were trapped inside, heightening the peril.

This incident underscores deepening rifts in Andhra’s polarized politics, where opposition figures face mounting pressures. Ramesh’s bold stand could rally YSRCP cadres, but it risks further violence in a charged atmosphere.
