In 2023, the Indian government introduced the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR ID), which is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This initiative is intended to simplify and digitize the academic journey of students by providing them with a single digital identifier. The APAAR ID connects students’ educational records across various educational institutions, both within and outside India. The APAAR ID is a unique 12-digit code which enables students to digitally store, manage, and access a wide array of academic information. This includes scorecards, mark sheets, grade sheets, degrees, diplomas, certificates, and even achievements in co-curricular activities. This new ID is aimed at facilitating smoother transitions between different educational stages and institutions, offering important benefits to students enrolled in various educational programs and platforms. The eligibility and the application process have been designed to be straightforward.
